Elle’s “Jane Eyre” Review

Hello friends,

With thanks to JP for linking this to me, I have below is Elle magazine’s review of Jane Eyre:

Hot young director Cary Fukunaga recasts Jane Eyre, getting back to what really makes the romantic masterpiece live and breathe.

Like all potentially great directors, Cary Fukunaga has the nerve of God. Two years ago, the then 31-year-old New York University film-school grad made a terrific feature debut with his Spanish-language drama “Sin Nombre”, about the lethal intertwining of a violent young Mexican gang and Central American families already risking their lives to reach the U.S. by riding the tops of northbound trains. After the movie won him the Best Director prize at Sundance, Fukunaga looked locked and loaded to become Hollywood’s latest big-shot action director.

Ask Mia a question!

G’day visitors,

Big thanks to Andie for informing me of this! Moviefone is looking for fans to submit questions for an upcoming episode of Unscripted for Alice in Wonderland with Mia, Anne Hathaway and Helena Bonham Carter. If you’re unfamiliar with Unscripted, they are when stars of a movie interview one another with fan questions (usually really great interviews).

Further information can be found here: Moviefone: Ask ‘Alice In Wonderland’ cast a question!

The deadline for question submissions are on February 19, so you better hurry!

A Short “Defiance” Review

Hello everyone,

Defiance was released out in theatres in Australia several weeks back, and last weekened I finally got around to seeing the movie. It was a lot better than I had expected! I thought it would be some plotless Hollywood action film, but no, the movie seems to be more than that. I am not a fan of Daniel Craig, but he however managed to pull off his role quite well, so kudos to him. Liev Schreiber, Jamie Bell and of course Mia were exceptional.

Mia’s role was very minor, but judging from her little scenes, she’s quite the actress.

But in a nutshell, I highly recommend the film to people who love war, drama, and action films. If you haven’t seen the film and it’s no longer available in theatres for you, then be sure to rent or purchase the DVD!

Help Rebuild Victoria

Hello everyone,

As I type this message, over 30 large bushfires are currently burning down the towns in the state of Victoria in Australia, which is also my home state. Over 170 people have died, many of which cannot even be identified due to impact of the fires. Along with the dead (which the toll is to rise), many more are missing and their families are completely worried sick. Furthermore, hundreds if not thousands of people have lost their homes, as the fire crept upon during the night as well.

You can help these people by donating to the two major charity appeals, please click on the links below if you consider donating!
